About Mile High HBCU Weekend Inc.

Mile High HBCU Weekend, Inc. is more than a weekend; it’s a movement. We’re a Colorado-based 501(C)(3) nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), expanding access to scholarship opportunities, and celebrating the vibrant culture and community that HBCUs represent.

We were founded by two proud Howard University alumni looking to inspire future generations of students to pursue culturally affirming higher education experiences. Through dynamic events, community partnerships, and educational outreach, we create space for Black excellence to thrive in the Mile High City and beyond.

Our Why

Growing up in Colorado, many Black students and families are unaware of the rich history, academic excellence, and life-long network that HBCUs offer.

We created Mile High HBCU Weekend to:

  • Bring HBCUs to Colorado through college fairs and community events

  • Connect alumni and professionals to mentor and inspire the next generation

  • Celebrate Black excellence and tradition through cultural programming and networking

Our vision is to make Mile High HBCU Weekend an annual tradition that unites alumni, students, and the broader community in celebration of education, legacy, and opportunity.
